New Rules On Playing Music In Public
Proposals were announced recently to charge community groups with incomes of £10,000 or above a fee of 1 per cent of their income to play recorded music in public places, with others charged £42. The proposals by music licensing authority PPL mean that charity shops and community groups will have to pay for licences to play music from records, CDs, the radio or television in public venues from January 2012. The proposals have caused concern among many sector leaders and we will keep you informed of any updates as they occur through our eNewsletter, this website and our Twitter site.
