Championing Small but Vital Charities

A key part of 3VA’s mission is to support and develop small local charities and community groups. Recently, Lloyds Bank Foundation (LBF) produced an excellent short publication Championing small but vital charities. We would recommend people read this and note some of the key points it is making. It not only highlighted the vital role small, local charities play at the heart of their local communities, but also some of the key challenges many face – demand increasing, while sources of funding reduce. At 3VA, we agree with the LBF – more must be done to ensure that the resources needed by these small, local charities are available to them.

Free Advice Line Opens for Small Charities

The FSI has launched a free service offering advice to small charities on a range of organisational issues. A pilot of the Advice Hub opened to FSI members with an annual turnover of under £100,000 last week and will run until the end of 2017. From January next year, the scheme will expand to be open to all FSI members, all of which are charities with a turnover of under £1.5m.

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance Members Announced

A new VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance that aims to bring the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector’s voice and expertise into national policy making has been announced. CQC's Next Phase of Regulation

Deadline for applications: 8 August 2017
The CQC has launched the second consultation on proposed changes to how it regulates health and social care services. Share your views to help the CQC understand which elements are valued by people and should be kept, as well as to improve could be better.

Pregnancy Discrimination Survey

Citizens Advice Eastbourne has seen an increase in the number of people being discriminated against at work when they tell their employer they are pregnant. Typical examples include people on zero hours contracts not being offered any work, basic rights not being offered such as time to attend medical appointments and general harassment. In order to find out more about this alarming trend, the CAB has set up an online Pregnancy Discrimination Survey. Please complete the survey and feel free to share the link with anyone you think would be interested in sharing their story.

FUNDING

Life More Ordinary

Deadline for applications: 17 July 2017 at 4:00 pm
