Safe in East Sussex

East Sussex Safer Communities Partnership will be focusing on serious organised crime over the next couple of years. This work includes cyber crime with a focus on cyber bullying and online safety and vulnerable young people being exploited and recruited by organised crime groups. The latest Safe in East Sussex newsletter for July provides further information about these areas in more detail and goes some way to highlight the risks posed to young people, why they are important issues to address, what the Partnership is planning to do and how it is working with various partners.

Groundwork Community Awards 2017

Groundwork is asking the public to nominate community groups to receive a national award at an awards ceremony recognising their work in making their local areas better places to live. The charity has launched the Groundwork Community Awards as a way of honouring small community groups making a big difference to everyone’s quality of life in their local area and to celebrate and reward groups who often get little recognition and support. The deadline for nominations is 25 August and the awards are simple to enter via an online system where community groups can highlight their own achievements. Groups can nominate themselves or be nominated by another organisation in categories such as best community group contribution to health and wellbeing, best community project on a social housing estate, community leader of the year and community group of the year – all round achievement award.

CONSULTATIONS AND SURVEYS

NHS 111 – online survey

The NHS 111 survey has recently been launched for Sussex.  A five-week survey, it asks people what they want the Sussex NHS 111 to do, giving a better idea about what people want and therefore what needs to be procured with the money available. The NHS 111 phone service provides advice and support for people with urgent, but not life-threatening, health concerns and it also plays a central role in managing demands on other parts of the local health service - especially A&E and GP surgeries. The re-procurement for the service will start in 2018, with the new service going live in April 2019. Please take just a few minutes to share your views about the future of the NHS 111 service across Sussex.  If you want to receive a paper copy, please contact the 111 Transformation Team on 07711 920 424 or email cwsccg.sussex111transformation@nhs.net

Carer Consultation for ESCC Adult Social Care

Deadline for responses: 28 July 2017
Have your say about the services you want for carers! East Sussex County Council Adult Social Care commission a range of organisations to provide information, advice and support to carers. As the current contracts are ending soon, ASC want to consult with carers to help shape the services they commission for the next few years. They have asked Care for the Carers to help them consult with carers to ask them what support has helped them in their caring role and what services not currently provided would be helpful. We are arranging some meetings to consult with carers, but if you are unable to attend in person, we want to give you the chance to have your say. Any information you give will be used to write reports, but will be used anonymously. If you would rather talk to someone on the phone, then call Grace at Care for the Carers on 01323 738 390. If I am unavailable, let the receptionist know when would be a good time to call.

CQC's Next Phase of Regulation

Deadline for responses: 8 August 2017
The CQC has launched the second consultation on proposed changes to how it regulates health and social care services. Share your views to help the CQC understand which elements are valued by people and should be kept, as well as to improve could be better.

Housing Allocations Policy Consultation

Deadline for responses: 14 August 2017 at 5:00 pm
Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council are currently inviting comments on their updated Housing Allocations policy. This policy explains who is eligible to join the Housing Register and how the councils prioritise applications. The policy aims to benefit those with the most urgent housing needs. This consultation is of potential interest to everyone with a local connection to Eastbourne who has a housing need and wishes to apply for social rented housing in or transfer to another home.

National LGBT Survey

Deadline for responses: 15 October 2017 at 11:45 pm
The Government Equalities Office and Department for Education have launched a survey to understand the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) people living in the UK. This anonymous survey asks about people’s experiences of accessing and using public services in the UK and any experiences of discrimination people may have faced throughout their life. After the survey closes, the results will be analysed and used to inform plans to improve LGBT equality.
