One-day Volunteering Opportunity - the Big Event 2017

Looking to liven up your Wednesday, or your September? Got skills to share or experience you would like to gain? Want to be part of something Big and Eventful? Volunteer at the SpeakUp Big Event 2017! The 9th annual Big Event on 13 September – complete with conference presentations, advice fair, and workshops – is all set to be as popular and successful as always with 150 delegates already signed up. SpeakUp Forum now needs some volunteers to help the day run smoothly: organise teas and coffees, register delegates, coordinate the advice fair and workshops, and be the event photographer. 10 Tips for Fundraising Around the £1 Coin

NCVO, the Institute of Fundraising, Charities Aid Foundation and the Charity Retail Association have worked in collaboration to look at how charities have been fundraising around the coin so far and think about how you can maximise donations of the round pound in the coming months.

Aspirations for Life

Are you a support service operating in East Sussex? Porchlight is looking for an organisation to join the Aspirations network. Porchlight has been awarded a European Social Fund / Big Lottery Fund (ESF/BLF) Building Better Opportunities (BBO) grant to deliver an innovative service to people who have had mental health issues that have been a barrier to work. Porchlight is looking for a fourth partner to join it to extend its support into East Sussex. Project services will be concentrated in remote coastal and rural areas of Kent and East Sussex. Services will be personalised to the needs and preferences of participants and ensuring that support will be available in the place and manner that suits them.

Meeting Rooms for Hire in Eastbourne and Hailsham

Are you looking for a meeting room for hire in Eastbourne or Hailsham? Now! Charity Group Ltd has some great spaces available at low prices. There are two large training rooms, one in each centre which can fit up to 12 people boardroom style. The Hailsham centre also has two 1-2-1 soundproof rooms for smaller meetings. Some of the facilities that they can offer include: fitted kitchens with a microwave and a kettle, free on-site parking, wheelchair accessible, disabled toilets, Wi-Fi, refreshments and food (if ordered in advance), projector and screen and stationery. Mums Employability Group and Marketing Masterclasses

Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises (HOME) has announced that it will be running a Mums Employability Group, a weekly support group for mums struggling to get back into work after having children, and Marketing Masterclasses that are free for job seekers. 

Older People's Day

Sunday, 1 October is officially Older People’s Day 2017, an International Day to celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to society. Once again, East Sussex County Council has worked in partnership with seniors’ forums, the voluntary sector, community groups and other statutory organisations to put together and support a programme of fun activities and information fairs. This year is the 10th anniversary of Older People’s Day in East Sussex, with events taking place across the county throughout September and October. You can download a copy of the booklet or pick up a copy from your nearest library.

Uckfield Town Council Grants 2018-2019

Deadline for applications: 25 August 2017
Uckfield Town Council, at its discretion and subject to available funding, provides grants and general support to small local groups promoting community life in Uckfield. Local organisations that fulfil the criteria may apply for a grant from the Town Council for a specific funding purpose. Application packs are now available from the Town Council Office, Civic Centre, Uckfield or by phoning 01825 762 774. Alternatively an application pack can be downloaded online. The full criteria required to be eligible to apply can be found on page 4 of the application form.

Sussex Community Foundation

Deadline for applications: 15 September 2017 at 5:00 pm
Sussex Community Foundation (SCF) supports a wide range of projects that tackle disadvantage or deprivation. In this round, SCF is particularly keen to support grassroots community groups and small-to-medium sized voluntary organisations.

Crowborough Town Council Grants

Deadline for applications: 30 September 2017 at 4:00 pm
Crowborough Town Council has a policy for making grants to groups and organisations which contribute to the welfare of the community by improving or supporting activities / facilities. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a clear need for financial support.

Building Stronger Communities Fund

Deadline for applications: Rolling
Funded by East Sussex Public Health, the Building Stronger Communities Fund is open to communities and groups across the county to support activities that value and utilise the strengths of local communities (asset based approaches).
