3VA provides a range of practical support to charities and community groups in Wealden, Eastbourne and the Lewes District - including start-up support, funding advice, help with governance, training and getting involved in local policy and decision making. 3VA Eastbourne Drop-in
3VA is working with Eastbourne Volunteers to provide support to organisations that involve volunteers and to help individuals in their search for the sort of volunteering opportunities that they are looking for. Every Tuesday between 10.00 and 1.00pm Stephen Hughes, the 3VA Community Development Officer responsible for supporting groups across Eastbourne, is available to provide support from the Eastbourne Volunteer’s office. The office is situated at 1 The Labyrinth, 7 Mark Lane, Eastbourne, BN21 4RJ. (Telephone: 01323

If you have any issues in relation to volunteer recruitment, retention or support, or if you are seeking volunteering opportunities then just call in at the office or telephone for an appointment. Stephen can also advise groups on issues such as legal structures, constitutions, policies and procedures and funding opportunities.
Support for Universal Credit
Citizens Advice Eastbourne is compiling a list of agencies in the Eastbourne area who can help support people with access to computers for Universal Credit. Please let us know if you can offer any help such as free access to computers, access to Wi-Fi, support with completing online applications, help setting up an email account, basic IT training for new users or other. If you are able to help Universal Credit claimants, please let Citizens Advice Eastbourne know by completing the form. It only takes a couple of minutes. Citizens Advice Eastbourne will compile this into a central list which will be freely available.
Where there's a Will, there's a Way!
By writing your will now you can ensure that the most important things to you are protected for the future. From Monday 2nd October to Wednesday 11th October, AGE Concern Eastbourne will be holding free will writing appointments with a fully qualified local lawyer from Stephen Rimmer. Eastbourne Lions Club Swimathon 2017
Eastbourne Lions Club’s annual Swimathon will take place on Saturday, 18 November at the Sovereign Centre commencing at 6:15 pm. This is an opportunity to raise more for your own or favourite charity or organisation.
Eastbourne Foodbank Seeking Storage Space
Eastbourne Foodbank urgently needs storage space for its foodbank food & resources. The organisation must leave its current home in Albury House imminently due to redevelopment and needs a space on the ground floor that's dry, rodent free, with vehicle access and preferably in Eastbourne. Ideally, Eastbourne Foodbank requires a space between 600 & 1,000 sqft. Do you have a property like this or know of someone who does? Eastbourne Foodbank has searched commercial property websites extensively and can't find

Attention East Sussex Musicians!
Are you retired and can play the piano/keyboard or a guitar? Do you have time on your hands? Get in touch with Christine McAllen who is keen on meeting up with you to put together a small voluntary band to sing Old Time songs in Care and Nursing Homes from Eastbourne to Brighton. Especially looking for a pianist or keyboard player. At present, Christine has a repertoire of 80 songs from 1900-1969 that she sings with a small band in Whitstable called Reminiscents, which has been playing together since February 2016 and have had over 25 bookings. Eastbourne Borough Council Community Grants
Eastbourne Borough Council is now inviting applications for Small Grants of up to £5,000 from voluntary and community organisations. Expressions of interest must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Friday 22 September. The priorities for 2018/19 are:
- Projects designed to promote inclusion and the needs of those communities and groups protected under current Equality legislation
- Initiatives designed to develop volunteering and/or self-help activity which need funding to get started which focus on:
- Improving people’s mental health and wellbeing
- Supporting carers
- Reducing social isolation
- Tackling financial exclusion
- Tackling digital exclusion

Crowborough Town Council Grants
Deadline for applications: 30 September 2017 at 4:00 pm
Crowborough Town Council has a policy for making grants to groups and organisations which contribute to the welfare of the community by improving or supporting activities / facilities. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a clear need for financial support.
Aviva Community Fund
Deadline for applications: 10 October 2017 at noon
Do you know a local project that needs funding? The Aviva Community Fund is back, offering support and funding to causes that make a real difference where you live. Put forward an idea that will benefit your community and it could get funding, ranging from up to £1,000 to up to £25,000.
Devonshire West Big Local Community Grants Programme
Deadline for applications: 30 October 2017 at midnight
Devonshire West Big Local is pleased to announce that it is launching its sixth round of funding. Round 6 of the successful Community Grants programme opens today, 18 September 2017. This grants programme offers community groups, both formal and informal, grants of up to £3,000 to run a project, event or campaign in the Devonshire West area of Eastbourne for the benefit of Devonshire West residents. Projects which meet one or more of Devonshire West Big Local’s 5 main themes may be funded: Children & Young People, Older People, Multicultural, Environment and Area Appearance and Whole Community. Wealden District Council Grants Programme
Deadline for applications: 30 November 2017
Wealden District Council’s Community Grants Programme is now open. The Small Grant Scheme is for grants between £500 and £3,000. The Capital Scheme is for grants between £1,000 and £10,000. Service Level Agreements (SLA) for funding of up to 3 years. Match funding is required, but it can be entirely "in-kind" such as volunteer time, member contributions, etc. A limited number of 40-minute pre-application advice sessions, for groups which have not had one before, will take place during office hours as follows:
- Willingdon - Thursday 5th October (am)
- Crowborough– Mon 9th October (am) and Friday 20th October (pm)
- Hailsham - Friday 13th October (am) and Tuesday 31st October (pm)
- Wadhurst – Thursday 2nd November (am) (NB: Disabled access is through the main hall)
Sessions must be booked in advance and are to directly discuss a drafted application for your organisation. If you are unable to attend one of the sessions and can submit your application by 15 November at the latest, some feedback before the closing date can be given so that applications can be strengthened (although please note that this will not guarantee success). Funds must be spent within the financial year April 2018-March
2019 for capital and small grants, and April 2018 – March 2021 for SLAs.
