NEWS

The Future of NHS 111

Earlier this year the NHS 111 Transformation Programme ran a survey both online and in local Sussex newspapers to find out people’s views on the NHS 111 service and ideas for the future of the service. More than a thousand people across Sussex responded and the information they provided was fed back to each of the seven CCGs’ Governing Bodies in September. Get an overview of the feedback and read the report

National HIV Testing Week

National HIV Testing Week runs from 18-24 November. Now in its sixth year, the campaign aims to encourage more people, particularly those in high risk groups, to test for the virus. NICE guidelines recommend annual testing to people in groups or communities with a high rate of HIV, and more frequently if they are at high risk of exposure. If you would like to get involved in local events during National HIV Testing Week, please contact the East Sussex HIV Prevention service, commissioned by East Sussex Public Health and delivered by Terrence Higgins Trust, via info@tht.org.uk

Should We Celebrate Eastbourne’s Accessibility?

Inclusive Eastbourne has recently carried out a Mystery Shopping survey, mainly in the hospitality sector, using volunteers who themselves face some such challenges, to find out how well served consumers are in today’s Eastbourne. Find out more about by reading the attached release and check out Accessible Eastbourne, a new online hub put together by local voluntary groups to help both businesses and consumers enjoy better mutual experience of shopping and leisure in Eastbourne. This not only lists and links organisations of help to those with particular needs but also offers practical services.

A Better World for All - Charity CD

Twelve Eastbourne based acts have contributed original recordings to a compilation album to raise money for Citizens Advice Eastbourne. The album entitled "A Better Word for All" is available to buy as a CD from Bonners Music and Vinyl Frontier for £7.99. It can also be streamed, downloaded or orders from abetterworldforall.bandcamp.com. From Friday, 1 December it will be available from Amazon, iTunes and other online stores.

Criminon UK

Last week we welcomed new members, including Criminon UK, but inadvertently used an incorrect link to its website. The correct website address is www.criminon.org.uk
