SpeakUp Forum

What is SpeakUp?

SpeakUp Forum is a countywide forum for voluntary and community sector representatives in East Sussex. It operates at the county level.


SpeakUp brings together chief executives and senior staff from countywide organisations, networks and the local CVSs (Councils for Voluntary Services). The Forum supports them in developing effective relationships with the public sector and representing the voluntary sector at key decision-making and strategic meetings at county level. SpeakUp works towards achieving a strong, informed and influential voluntary sector in East Sussex.


3VA and the local networks in Eastbourne, Wealden and Lewes district are involved with SpeakUp and develop the links between the local and county representation.


SpeakUp also organises an annual conference called 'The Big Event'  for voluntary sector organisations in East Sussex.


SpeakUp Representatives

SpeakUp representatives are employees or volunteers from Voluntary and Community Sector organisations that work in East Sussex. They are mostly chief executives, managers and chairs.  The representatives do not only represent their own organisations but derive knowledge from a wider section of the sector. 


Representatives meet bi-monthly to discuss issues, exchange information and prepare for key partnerships. They also communicate regularly by e-mail and meet in working groups to address specific issues or topics.
