This is a great opportunity to join SCDA’s Employability team working on the Get Socially Active Project. This is an innovative project supporting participants into work, training and volunteering. Based at the Recycle bicycle workshop in Newhaven the project encourages people to learn about practical bike maintenance skills. The Bicycle Technician role involves repairing, maintaining and servicing donated bikes ready to be sold back to the community. To stop bikes going to landfill you will also strip down bikes for the parts to be reused. You will also use your technical skills to support volunteers and participants on Get Socially Active to learn how to maintain and refurbish bikes that have been donated. This role is ideal for someone with a cycling technician qualification who wants to use their skills in workshop environment to support the development of Recycle as a social enterprise and to share your skills with others wanting to learn more about bike mechanics. This role works alongside our Employment Advisor to inspire participants to become more engaged with cycling and to build their confidence to move into work, training or volunteering.
