Unsung Heroes in Lewes District
The Chair of Lewes District Council, Councillor Nigel Enever, would like to host an event in April to celebrate the work of people who volunteer their services for the good of the community. To make the event as inclusive as possible Lewes District Council is contacting different organisations asking for your help with the nominations of one or two persons who help your organisation, or organisations you are associated with, within the Lewes District on a voluntary basis and are an example to us all. They may look after the young or old, run sports clubs, art classes, provide rescue services or do whatever you believe has a social or community benefit. Please send the names and addresses of those whom you nominate with a brief description of what they do to email@example.com by Wednesday 1 March 2017. Provided there is a sufficient number of nominations, the invitations will be sent out by the end of March and the event will take place on Saturday 22 April from 12.30-15.00 at Lewes House, Lewes High Street (details TBC).
CONSULTATIONS AND SURVEYS
Culture and Creativity in Eastbourne Survey
Culture matters to everyone in Eastbourne. Some people - such as artists, those running creative businesses, young people making music, and visitors enjoying a night out - are directly involved; but everyone is affected one way or another. The cultural life of a town or a community directly shapes its economy, and determines its status as a great place to live, work and grow up in.
Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) wants to make the most of the town’s creative potential, and to use the Council’s cultural assets and funding to best effect. That is why EBC is inviting you to fill in this short survey. Please note that deadline for responses is 3rd March and not 3rd February as stated in the survey.
EBC have commissioned Create Associates, working with 3Johns and Shelagh to come up with recommendations about how Eastbourne’s creative and cultural ecosystem can improve. The survey is the first step in a process of consultations and conversations over the coming weeks that will result in a set of proposals about how the Council, funders, cultural organisations, creative businesses, community groups and individuals can work together to make Eastbourne more creative, more co-ordinated, and more culturally exciting and rewarding. Once the survey results are in, a series of workshops will be constructed, and these are currently planned to take place during the week commencing 6th March 2017.
Volunteer Driver Schemes Survey
Deadline for responses: 10 March 2017
If you organise volunteer driver schemes in East Sussex, 3VA would like to hear from you. We are mapping Volunteer Driver Schemes in East Sussex, capturing the experience of organisations, drivers and passengers. The aim is to establish what currently exists, identify best practice and build capacity and resilience. We have launched 3 online surveys:
- If you are an organisation that provides a volunteer driver scheme, please share your knowledge by completing Survey 1
- If you are a volunteer driver, please share your knowledge by completing Survey 2
- If you use volunteer driver schemes as a passenger, please share your knowledge by completing Survey 3 .
The plan is to share the results in a forum to discuss Voluntary Transport Solutions and plan next steps. Please share these links with your contacts and encourage as many volunteer drivers and passengers to complete.
VCES 2017 Survey - Please take a little time to help us to help you
The Volunteer Centre East Sussex (VCES) are currently working with a wide range of partners to offer support for people who want to get more involved in their communities, and the groups/organisations that are already doing great work. VCES want to offer this support in ways that you – the individuals and groups – think are best! VCES have launched two surveys to ask you about your experiences and views.
- Survey 1: For individual ‘volunteers’ ‘Volunteer’ is any person who gives their time freely to help other individuals, groups, or organisations. You might have an official volunteering role, or might get involved in activities in a more informal way.
- Survey 2: For community groups and voluntary organisations Survey 2 is for you if: a) you organise a community group and are in charge of getting other people involved in your activities; or b) you work for an organisation where you are responsible for involving and supporting volunteers.
VCES would be extremely grateful if you could fill out the survey that is relevant to you. Plus, you will be entered into a prize draw and you or your group could win a prize for participating! For any queries about these surveys, please contact Rebecca Lutton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
